When introducing Bags, Inc. to a new potential customer, the first question asked is always ... how did you get into environmental packaging? The answer ... the frightening statistic above. It bears repeating ... Less that 1% of plastic bags are ever recycled. This simple fact made us think about our industry and the direction of our company in the future.

Started as a simple bag business over chicken wings and beer one Thursday evening in 1996, Bags, Inc. began selling bags to industrial and manufacturing companies in the Boulder, Colorado area. After several years of listening to these companies and hearing the call of the community, we started looking for an earth friendly packaging solution.

Product was not easy to find. The packaging industry was slow to respond and had a solid history of non-environmental policies. Steady pressure on material suppliers and research into alternative products used mostly in Europe resulted in positive environmental changes for packaging.

By partnering with other packaging companies with similar business ideals, Bags was able to bring the first truly degradable plastic packaging to the marketplace in the United States. Then in 2003, EF/Bags® were launched nationwide with several retailers who continue to lead with their commitment to strong environmental policies.

Taking our concern for the environment to the next level brought further change to our packaging outlook. In 2004, Bags began offering an environmental audit to companies across the country. This short questionnaire allows companies to evaluate the environmental aspects of their packaging. Using this tool has enabled companies both large and small to strengthen their image through their packaging.

Ten years later, Bags, Inc. has transformed into a global provider of environmentally friendly packaging. We continue to help businesses remove the obstacles that come with choosing a comprehensive environmental packaging solution. With a customer base ranging from small start-up companies to large Fortune 500 companies, we've got you covered.
